Snowboard has grown in popularity since the 1980s.
In some countries it has become the main winter sport
with skiing as an alternative.
As a concept it is similar to surfing on the sea or skateboarding,
Both feet are fixed to the same wide board at a suitable angle.
Before starting to learn it, a decision is needed
Which foot forward and which foot back
The left foot forward is known as Regular
the right foot forward is known as Goofy.
Just as with skiing, it can be learnt much faster and safer
with professional instruction.
The two basic styles are Alpine and Freestyle
Alpine Snowboarding is more on piste and speed orientated
with a hard shell boot.
Freestyle Snowboarding is more stunts, jumps and tumbles
with a softer boot style.
