Ski Touring is to do the ascent as well as the descent.
It gets the heart beating and gives access to remote locations.
On the ascent the heel is free to allow a walking motion for the climb.
For the descent the heel is fixed securely.
To allow the ski to grip the snow whilst climbing
seal skins (not made from seals) are fitted to the ski sole.
