When the winter weather drops below zero Celsius water can form ice. Longer periods of cold weather can cause whole lakes to freeze over. Purpose built ice rinks are also built. Ice Skating is using a boots with a blade beneath to glide across the ice.
As a sport it is divided between an energetic athletic sport called Ice Hockey with a curved blade, and Figure Skating with is an elegant and athletic form of dancing on ice.
Ice Skating is not available in Flachau, but is available in Salzburg City at the Volksgarten and in the Festive Season in the Mozart Square.
