Cross Country Ski (Nordic) Langlauf

Cross Country Ski is also known as Nordic Skiing.
Using a long thin light ski with a shoe like a running shoe
this is a traditional method for crossing a distance
with some gentle slopes up or down.

There are two distinct techniques:
Classic (or Traces) is following a prepared trailed with parallel tracks for the skis to follow.Skating (or Herringbone) is making a skating motion on a smooth trail.

The two techniques have their own distinct equipment,
much cheaper than Alpine Ski equipment.
No liftpass is required except for accessing high altitude routes. Some trails require the payment of an entrance fee.
